WATER GARDEN OPEN DAYS  - The Water Gardens will be open this season for the benefit of the following charities on only the first and third Sundays of the month as shown below. Members of the John Lewis Partnership and anyone in their company may visit the Garden free of charge on the second Sunday of the month (April – September) and will be asked to show their shopping discount cards. Members of the three local churches will provide teas at Longstock Park Nursery on these Sundays. Only registered Assistance Dogs will be admitted to the garden and care should be taken to leave no litter.

RHS recommended event covering our National Collections of Buddlejas, Clematis viticellas and Penstemons.


Butterflies and Buddlejas Event

This event will be led by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight branch of Butterfly Conservation.  The event will include guided walks and activities for children. There will be information on butterflies and how to attract them to your garden. There will be a Henna Butterfly trail which will be mainly for younger children and will involve going around the garden area finding and then identifying butterflies.(These may be images of butterflies, thereby allowing children to participate should there be a lack of actual insects.)
There will also be books, cards, pictures and paintings of butterflies for sale.  

In addition nursery specialist Peter Moore,  will be leading tours of the national collection of Buddlejas and local butterfly experts will help visitors appreciate the range of butterflies which visit Buddlejas and gardens in general.

There will be no admission charge but donations will be sought on the day in aid of Butterfly Conservation.

Butterfly Conservation is a wildlife charity dedicated to saving butterflies, moths and their habitats.
